Built from experience
Portavis was designed and built from a simple observation; Marine safety management shouldn't have to be pieced together from spreadsheets, documents and disconnected systems, although more often than not, it is.Before establishing Portavis, I worked for Salcombe Harbour Authority for 8 years during and after my graduation from university. I then completed my UKHMA Harbour Master Certificate in late 2025.I experienced first hand the challenges of maintaining a Marine Safety Management System and I realised how disconnected the whole process can feel. Portavis strives to make keeping a track of your MSMS significantly easier, as well as providing practical, ease-of-use features throughout the platform.- James

Marine Safety Intelligence combines your organisation’s Marine Safety Management System, uploaded documents and local context to help assess new marine safety updates against your operations. It uses AI to summarise each update, explain why it may be relevant and suggest areas to review or possible actions—then your team can review, amend, action or dismiss the suggestion and track any follow-up in Portavis.
